Vinegar-Based Tangy Coleslaw Recipe
What you need
- 1 large head green cabbage, shredded
- 1 carrot, peeled and shredded
- 1 large green bell pepper, shredded
- 1 small onion, finely minced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
- 1 tsp mustard seed
- 1 tsp celery seed
- salt and pepper to taste
What to do
In a large bowl, toss shredded and minced vegetables together.
In a small bowl, combine and whisk together sugar, salt, celery seed, mustard seed, vinegar, and pepper.
Add to cabbage mixture and toss thoroughly.
Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
Make 6 - 8 servings
Coleslaw Recipe with Warm Vinegar
What you need
- 1 cabbage, finely shredded or a package of shredded coleslaw mix
- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp celery seed
- salt and pepper to taste
What to do
In a large bowl, combine cabbage and onion.
Combine dressing ingredients and bring to boil.
Pour over cabbage and toss.
Cool, then refrigerate.
