Easy Pie Crust Recipe - You can't miss

easy pie crust

This easy pie crust recipe is my brother's and it's true that you can't miss if you follow exactly the secret to this successful outcome. Even I could roll an "almost" perfect dough.

My brother is the 'chef' in the family, but he is a mechanic by trade and has been doing renovations for the last 15 years!

He is younger than me by 3 years and he didn't learn how to cook from me or my mother.

He had to stay home one year because of a 'mono' and he was getting bored. So he decided to take out the cooking books and try to make dinner for his wife who was working.

As they say: the rest is history. He really loves it and is really good at it.

You should try this recipe at least once and see how you manage.

If still too hard for you, just buy the frozen pie crusts!

Easy Pie Crust - makes 6 crusts

What you need

  • 5 cups of flour
  • 1 lb of shortening or butter
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 egg, beaten

What to do

Here is the SECRET: Place all ingredients and your utensils in the fridge.

When everything is cold, add the shortening (or butter) in the flour and dice it.

Then add the cold water and the egg.

Mix rapidly with your hands and make a ball.

Now leave in the fridge for 1 hour.

Roll the dough to make your crusts.

Add your filling.

Bake immediately, because you don't want the shortening (butter) to melt before baking.
